Off The Job Podcast

Social Media/Podcast/VLog/Ads

Back in 2023. I was asked to help start up and run a multi-camera Podcast all about the Trades and tradespeople’s stories. I am a producer on the show, alongside the other producer, Abigail Reece. Working closely with the hosts, Keiran Yates and Pete Withers.

My main area of work on the podcast is the more practical side of things such as setting up the studio, filming episodes and content, editing the long-form episodes and weekly short-form promo content.

The Podcast is a personal great achievement of mine. It allows me to wear multiple hats and take on a wide range of challenges. Especially with tradeshows. Running and gunning at tradeshows with two fast paced hosts whilst continuing to be a producer on the fly and work with whatever the tradeshows throw at me always keeps me going.

Gas Certificate App Demo

Marketing/Educational/Explainer

Creating the Gas Certificate App Demo video was a challenge. It involved a lot of moving parts. Keeping it equally educational for new or existing users to watch and learn the app as well as marketable to show off the app and draw new members in.

Being handed a script with little room for creative customisation due to technical information on the subject. I storyboarded the sequences on paper. Then used Adobe Illustrator to storyboard the motion graphics heavy areas. Filming the talker using a Teleprompter and DJI Wireless Microphones. I screen recorded the app and went through the demonstration. Then synced it up in post.

The demo was created with chapters. This allowed me to have a full demo version. And another set of versions for specific app features for watchers and app users to find what they need at greater ease.

Creating the motion graphics from scratch was equally challenging as it was fun. It allowed to flex the more creative areas of the project that didn’t need to be exact for technical aspects. All kept within brand guidelines.

Jagex Premier Members Advertisement

Social Media/Marketing/Gaming

I had the chance to interview with Jagex to create a short form video to advertise their new membership offer, which includes unique cosmetics, pets, and monthly benefits. Formatted to be displayed on widescreen media platforms, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.

The content clips were provided, uncut and unedited, and I was given creative freedom to piece it together how I saw fit.

Edited within Premiere Pro to lay out the design, pacing, and clip lengths. Finalised the transitions and lower-third within After Effects.

For The King Trailer

Social Media/Marketing/Gaming

During an interview process with Rebellion, I was tasked with creating a game trailer, of any game of my choosing. I chose For The King, due to it being light hearted in nature, it didn’t lean too heavily on its own thematically which allowed some space for my own creative input, and mainly for the game engine it was built in, Unity, to be fairly exploitable.

I started my process by writing a script and storyboard. Making sure the script touched upon KPIs and USPs of the game. The script was a great starting point as it allowed me to construct a strong foundation and pacing of the video. The storyboard cohesively worked with clip organisation and recording due to me knowing what clips where needed and where without my Premiere Pro Timeline becoming unorganised, which kept a steady workflow.

The main focus was for the video to have a nice flow to it, with motion graphics being an additional attribute to keep the viewers attention. To get cinematic shots and clips, I had to, in essence, break the game with a third-party software, BepInEx, a Unity based framework editor, to be able to unlock the camera and move it however I saw fit. This essentially allowed me to gain access to a minimised version of the Devkit.

Re-Instate Smile Project

Filming

The Smile Project is an on-going, co-project run by Re-Instate, to help develop creative projects that have a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing. I was tasked with filming the interviews, which consisted mostly of vulnerable clients on the spectrum.

It was a run and gun shoot using as little equipment as possible, this was because the extra equipment came off as intimidating to the clients. A simple on-camera shotgun mic and a DSLR was the maximum equipment I could use.

I collected B-roll shots during one of their project sessions to demonstrate some of the creative tasks they’ll be doing. The interviews went on to discuss multiple topics to do with the Smile Project, but I believed that the effects it has on the clients mental health was the main focus of the video. Allowing these vulnerable clients to have a voice and be heard.

Working alongside some big-name comedians such as Seann Walsh and Paul Chowdhry and comics at a comedy club, creating promotional short-form content for the comedy club’s socials and the comedians’ personal uses. This content raged from widescreen compilations of best clips to IGTV/TikTok vertical screen clips of daily posts.

During my time I learned about SEO and relevant tags to amplify views and discoverability of posts, with majority of clips consistently reaching over 1,000 views. Designing attractable thumbnails in the theme of the club and assisting with community feedback. Working alongside Canon XA15 camcorders to record in low lighting with Covid-19 restrictions in the way.

The comedy club had two stages, due to the limitations of the camera and the room. Some videos were edited to be vertical 9:16 whilst videos filmed on the other stage were widescreen 16:9. These clips were uploaded when it was still branded as IGTV and not Instagram Reels.
